What is ISO 9001:2008?

ISO stands for International Organization for Standardization and their specifications define and structure a company’s management systems. Any company seeking this certification must meet rigorous requirements that prove how their systems comply with the standards set for by this global, non-government agency. The ISO 9000 family is all about quality management and ensuring companies adhere to a set of quality policies and objectives. There are just over 26,000 companies ISO 9001 certified in the US and we are excited to be a part of such an exclusive group. Though they develop the standards and guidelines, they are not the ones who actually perform certification. This is done by member organizations in their respective countries. ISO is an organization whose mission is make sure a company’s products and services are safe, reliable, and made with quality. They care about the world’s inhabitants and ensure that companies comply with standards to preserve the environment and people’s health. They have made these two objectives their core focus since their inception in February of 1947.

All of our processes – from manufacturing to production to customer service – have been validated to be appropriately managed and regulated. We undertook the mammoth task of reviewing and updating our procedures and quality manual to achieve the ISO 9001:2008 certification. Our Quality Management System (QMS) has been independently audited by an external certification organization and found to meet all ISO 9001:2008 protocols. Your confidence in our services have been assured by ISO. You know that our compliance with these standards means we are forever striving to continually improve our systems and process for your benefit. Our new QMS is a revised set of processes that are more efficient with resources, improve risk management, and guarantee we deliver exactly what we promise. How do we know this? Our QMS works within itself to recognize any areas for improvement and adjusts our processes to work more efficiently. This helps us provide you with the best service in the rotating equipment repair and maintenance industry.

So, is this it? What’s next for HDS?

Not at all! ISO does not let a company rest on its laurels. They are consistently reviewing, revising, and establishing new standards to ensure relevance and to keep current with trends in the ever-evolving marketplace. The next set of ISO 9001 (ISO 9001:2015) standards will be codified and published by the end of 2015. The organization gives businesses three years to transition after the revision to conform to the new edition. And, we can promise you that we will be keeping ourselves current with ISO standards—so you can always rest assured that you are receiving top-notch service every time you use HDS for your rotating equipment needs.
